Central Computer Lab:

The Central Computer Laboratory caters to the needs of the students of degree programmes who have practical papers on computer applications. The Centre is also used for in-house training of the faculty on rotational basis. With Broadband internet facilities the CCB is all set to be LAN compliant once the fast going automation process in Central Library, administrative wing and academic departments is given final touch.

 

Biotech Hub:

Institutional level Biotech Hub (IBT Hub), sponsored by Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India (DBT) with a Biotechnology Laboratory with basic set of sophisticated instruments is being established in the College for promotion of Biotechnology. The IBT Hub will function under Biotech Consortium India Limited (BCIL) and will be guided by North-eastern Region Biotechnology Programme Management Cell (NER-BPMC). The Hub will conduct Biotechnology awareness programme, training, workshops etc. for learners at different levels.

Genesis:

A Biotech Hub Scheme was initiated during the year 2010-11 with the broad purpose of promotion of education and research in Biology / Life Science/Biotechnology. Institutes / Colleges / Universities of higher education of the North Eastern Region of India offering undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses in any branch of Biology / Life Science / Biotechnology / Environmental Science / Chemistry / Physics / Computer Science / Biomedical Sciences / Agri / Veterinary Sciences for 3 years are supported to establish/upgrade a basic biotechnology lab, develop a bioinformatics centre, avail biotechnology e-journal, support for organizing training for teachers etc. During the year 2010-11, 6 State Level and 34 Institutional Level Biotech Hubs were established academic and research institutions in the North Eastern Region. Biotech Hub Co-ordinator Meeting held in Gangtok, Sikkim on 19-20 April, 2012 These facilities will impart research insight among the budding science students at their formative stage of science education (UG / PG level) and research career (PhD level). So far 92 Colleges / universities / Institutes have been sanctioned institutional level biotech hubs.

The Biotech Hub Scheme provides following facilities to the grantee institutes/universities:
1) A biotechnology lab with a basic set of equipment.
2) A bioinformatics centre with at least 5 computers and internet connectivity.
3) Access to e-journals in biotechnology.
4) Recurring budget for chemicals, glassware and internet connectivity.
5) Support for training and workshops for teachers.
6) Travel support for conferences and training in India.
7) Student fellowship etc.

 

College Canteen:

The College has a well furnished wet canteen which remains open during class hours and examination days throughout the year. The statutory canteen committee keeps vigil on the service quality, quantity and quality of the edible staff and beverages sold in the canteen.

Students securing highest marks in Arts, Science and Commerce subjects at College / University / Council examinations receive cash awards and certificates under the aeigis of the Aid and Award Committee. Of late two more prestigious awards have been instituted. Soumyajit Guha Merit Award in Bengali goes to top scorer in Bengali Honours in the College. Soumyajit Guha Excellence Award in Economics goes to the best performer in Economics Honours under Assam University.

Boys' Common Room:

Boys’ Common Room of the College has some in-door and recreational facilities. Both up-keep and improvement of the facilities therein are monitored by a secretary and an assistant secretary of the Executive Council of CCSU under a teacher-in-charge.

 

Girls' Common Room:

Girls’ Common Room has good sitting arrangements with attached toilet / lavatory block, round-the-clock water supply and a cloak room. Indoor games facilities are also available inside the room. A woman attendant is posted there for any service required. Both up-keep and improvement of the facilities in the GCR are monitored by a secretary of the Executive Council of CCSU under a lady teacher-in-charge.

 

Health Care Unit:

A one-room Health Centre on a modest scale exists in the College. A trained nurse is posted there. Emergency first aid facilities are available. However, an official arrangement has been established with a nearby private nursing home wherefrom on-demand-round-the-clock medical service can be hired.

 

Digital Classroom:

The construction and setting-up of 2 (two) Digital classrooms with ideal facilities capable of teaching upto 48 students in a batch in each room has been completed recently under infrastructural Development Grant provided by the Govt. of Assam.
