Facilities
Central Library:
The College has a central library in addition to some departmental libraries. The Central Library is equipped with borrowing, reading and reference sections. The process of computerized accession and borrowing facilities is fast nearing completion. For further details students are advised to get in touch with the office of the Librarian.

Digital Library:
A Digital Library as an extension of the Central Library has been constructed under Infra-structural Development Grant provided by the Govt. of Assam. Digital Library is a mission to create a portal for the Digital Library of India which will foster creativity and free access to all human knowledge. At present, this digital library of the college will provide an easy access and retrieval to information/contents available in the Central Library.

Digital Class Room:
The construction and setting-up of 2 (two) Digital Class Rooms with ideal facilities capable of teaching up to 48 students in a batch in each room has been completed recently under Infra-structural Development Grant provided by the Govt. of Assam. State-of-the-art ICT facilities have been used in these technology enabled Class Rooms to provide an advanced student-centric learning environment.

Central Computer Lab.
The Central Computer Laboratory caters to the needs of the students of degree programmes who have practical papers on computer applications. The Centre is also used for in-house training of the faculty on rotational basis. With Broadband internet facilities the CCB is all set to be LAN compliant once the fast going automation process in Central Library, administrative wing and academic departments is given final touch.

Institutional Level Biotech Hub:
Introduction:

Institutional level Biotech Hub (IBT Hub), sponsored by Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India (DBT) with a Biotechnology Laboratory with basic set of sophisticated instruments is being established in the College for promotion of Biotechnology. The IBT Hub will function under Biotech Consortium India Limited (BCIL) and will be guided by North-eastern Region Biotechnology Programme Management Cell (NER-BPMC). The Hub will conduct Biotechnology awareness programme, training, workshops etc. for learners at different levels.

Genesis:

*Establishment of Biotech Hubs for the North Eastern States: *(Source: DBT, India)

A Biotech Hub Scheme was initiated during the year 2010-11 with the broad purpose of promotion of education and research in Biology / Life Science/Biotechnology. Institutes / Colleges / Universities of higher education of the North Eastern Region of India offering undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses in any branch of Biology / Life Science / Biotechnology / Environmental Science / Chemistry / Physics / Computer Science / Biomedical Sciences / Agri / Veterinary Sciences for 3 years are supported to establish/upgrade a basic biotechnology lab, develop a bioinformatics centre, avail biotechnology e-journal, support for organizing training for teachers etc. During the year 2010-11, 6 State Level and 34 Institutional Level Biotech Hubs were established academic and research institutions in the North Eastern Region. Biotech Hub Co-ordinator Meeting held in Gangtok, Sikkim on 19-20 April, 2012 These facilities will impart research insight among the budding science students at their formative stage of science education (UG / PG level) and research career (PhD level). So far 92 Colleges / universities / Institutes have been sanctioned institutional level biotech hubs.

The Biotech Hub Scheme provides following facilities to the grantee institutes/universities:
I.   A biotechnology lab with a basic set of equipment.
II.  A bioinformatics centre with at least 5 computers and internet connectivity.
III. Access to e-journals in biotechnology.
IV.  Recurring budget for chemicals, glassware and internet connectivity.
V.   Support for training and workshops for teachers.
VI. Travel support for conferences and training in India.
VII. Student fellowship etc.
       
   
Scholarships:
Govt. Scholarships like National Scholarships, SC/ST/OBC scholarships and any other public schemes of financial aids are processed at the College office. Students securing highest marks in Arts, Science and Commerce subjects at College / University / Council examinations receive cash awards and certificates under the aeigis of the Aid and Award Committee. Of late two more prestigious awards have been instituted. Soumyajit Guha Merit Award in Bengali goes to top scorer in Bengali Honours in the College. Soumyajit Guha Excellence Award in Economics goes to the best performer in Economics Honours under Assam University.

Aid and Award:
The College has a statutory Aid and Award Committee which monitors the mechanism of providing aids to the poor and awards to the meritorious students. Besides, the College office has a separate scholarship window. Govt. Boys' Common Room:
Boys' Common Room of the College has some in¬door and recreational facilities. Both up-keep and improvement of the facilities therein are monitored by a secretary and an assistant secretary of the Executive Council of CCSU under a teacher-in-charge.

Ladies' Common Room:
Ladies' Common Room has good sitting arrangements with attached toilet / lavatory block, round-the-clock water supply and a cloak room. Indoor games facilities are also available inside the room. A woman attendant is posted there for any service required. Both up-keep and improvement of the facilities in the LCR are monitored by a secretary of the Executive Council of CCSU under a lady teacher-in-charge.

Girls' Hostel:
Presently, the College has well-equipped hostel facilities for girls only with limited intake capacity. Students desirous of availing of the facility need to apply during admission. Selection and all other related matters rest with the discretion of the Hostel Committee. The residents of the hostel shall be regualted by the Guidelines for Resident Students. Hostel accommodation is provided only to bonafide students of Cachar College, subject to availability, from the date of admission in the college

Others
Co-operative: Cachar College Employees' Thrift and Amenities Cooperative Limited maintains a temporary sale outlet during and after admission days. Students are required to buy cloth pieces for college uniform from this outlet. This arrangement has been made with twin purpose. First, exact shade of the prescribed uniform colours can be ensured as hundred per cent students procure their cloth from the same source. Second, students get the cloth pieces at cheaper than competitive prices.

Photocopy Centre: There is also a canteen for table stationery items and to provide photocopy facilities at concessional rates.

Book Bank : Cachar College Students' Union maintains a book bank for economically retarded students. Central library provides logistical helps to the Bank.

Canteen : The College has a well furnished wet canteen which remains open during class hours and examination days throughout the year. The statutory canteen committee keeps vigil on the service quality, quantity and quality of the edible staff and beverages sold in the canteen. There is also a canteen for table stationery items and photostation facilities at concessional rates. Health Centre : A one-room Health Centre on a modest scale exists in the College. A trained nurse is posted there. Emergency first aid facilities are available. However, an official arrangement has been established with a nearby private nursing home wherefrom on-demand-round-the-clock medical service can be hired.

Co-curricular activities : The College management always encourages co-curricular talents in the students. The Cachar College Students' Union has a music and dramatic club and a debating club. Students having interest and penchant in debating, quizzing, acting in drama, recitation, singing etc. have enough scope to perform during the annual social week and also on various occasions throughout the year.

NCC and NSS : The College has wings for NCC and NSS. Plans are afoot to bring maximum number of students under these twin wings. As the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council has made it mandatory for the 10+2 students to be engaged in one or the other co-curricular activities, students are advised to keep the College office informed about their co-curricular involvement.

College Magazines : The CCSU has a multi-lingual annually published mouthpiece- Charaibeti. Students having flair in creative writing can contribute to this house magazine. Apart from this some well-edited wall magazines form a part of the Cachar College creative world. Spectrum (English Dept.), Mayookh (Bengali Dept.), Meira (Manipuri Dept.), Darpan (Hindi Dept.), Surabharati (Sanskrit Dept.), Qutifa (Arabic Dept.), and Scientia (Science wing) are in regular publication.

Sports : Cachar College always proved to be a spotter's paradise in sporting talents. In group events like football, volley ball and cricket and also in individual events like track and field and athletics, Cachar College students have excelled in inter-club, inter-state and in some cases, national level competitions. Even though the College does not have a play ground or infrastructure for outdoor sports, by virtue of its membership in the District Sports Association, budding talents do not go unnoticed. Close linkage of the College with the DSA has proved to be a very good arrangement in spotting talents of the College and placing them in the right orbit.

Extension activities : The College has an Extension Activities Centre with two teachers at the helm of affairs. Though the activities are yet to pick up and gain expected momentum, already some health awareness camps, blood donation camps and environment camps from the College have been organized in far-flung areas. Students having zeal and commitment to serve the community and reach out to those in need will find excellent environment in this College.
